I have used both many times and I still prefer the 900 over the 2000. More user friendly and the effects layout is also more DJ friendly.

Thanks Nicadraus, +Rep for this. I understand that is why people edge towards it. More user friendly and what people are familiar too. But this seems to be the main thing along with Traktor Certification? I have been getting quite irritated with the 700/800/900 effects layout lately, i don't know why hence why i'm considering the 2000. Edit: Must spread some rep, sorry dude.
Sorry guys, totally forgot to reply to this. Thanks for all the input, it definitely has got me thinking about things.
I wasn't in a position to try them as the nearest store is 200+ miles away but i'm going to be in London this weekend so i'm going to try them both out and decide. NR - I understand what you're saying, i have been in contact with my local DJ store (200+ miles away) which i actually have became quite good friends with and they said they haven't heard anything yet but it's not to say it won't happen (DJM2000 upgrade). Adzm - Yeah i know what you mean about the touch screen, i don't really think i'd use the touch screen. It's more the effects which are getting me, not sure if i want quick pressing effect buttons like the 2k or the knob like the 900. But this weekend will see. Which ever i chose you will see it in show your setup in the next few weeks.
Thanks for the help guys +rep. I just went through this decision making process.
I chose the DJM-900. I use Traktor and wanted to have full functionality versus the partial ability built into the DJM-2000 The primary reason I wanted to move to Pioneer in the first place was due to its status as the 'club standard'. I see more DJs using the 900 over the 2000 I already have a RMX-1000 so the effects component less of a factor. Based on reports in the Pioneer forums, the 2000 is long overdue for a firmware upgrade. This seems to less of an issue for the 900. The 900 was significantly less than the 2000 enabling me to put the money towards the CDJ-2000 Nexus. Those were the highlights.
Let's be honest. If the decision is between the DJM-900 or the DJM-2000, does anyone really lose?
